shrug Who ever promised that any region or other small demographic
slice would get the Gov't they "voted for"?

That's not how democracy works.

You vote for your local MP, who represents you (whether you actually
picked the winner or not). The Gov't is formed by the party or grouping
with a majority of MPs. That simple.
