Why are you so fixated by this "gap"? I'd have thought that the
absolute wealth level of the poorest is what counts.

Typical Tory thinking. After all the poorest in this country are far
richer than the poorest in Africa. They should be grateful they're not
just allowed to starve. Our food banks are so much better than those in
Africa.
