Factory U joints are greased for life.

Their life ends when all the grease is gone.

The "good" ones still come with a plug that can be removed and a zerc
installed. The "****ty" ones are not even cross drilled to allow
grease distribution.


Absolutely correct

One has to be a bit careful about installing zerks in u-joints
though...some will fit properly..others if they are too tall...get
broken off if the joint is flexed widely.

And the same with steering gear parts
