Heat shrink tubing is very..very cheap protection

Much neater than duct tape - which I've used.

In either case, several layers are called for, if you're doing 'vigorous'
work. One layer might pierce easily on a sharp edge... and EVERYTHING
inside a distribution box is stamped, with sharp edged.
