We have some bits of wall which are a mixture of a rough finish and flat
render.

The rough finish seems to be more like a very rough gritty paint than a
pebble dash.
The edges are quite sharp, and there are raise peaks, but no large grains
in the finish.

Has anyone come across this, and knows what the wall treatment might be?

Yes, but there are no pictures of the particular bit of rough finish
being asked about.

Though the OP could always look at pictures to see what matched, it
would be quicker for the experts on here to look at his and then say
"Oh, yes, it's......."
