You are likely to find Bakersfield CA an attractively inexpensive
place to live. Other attractions might be harder to identify.

There is a certain wilderness attraction in Bakersfield, where rusting
forklift hulks are nicely combined with rusting everything else, on a
disputed piece of private land. Like a wildlife safari, you may enjoy
that.
