I bet that piece is at least 1/4 in diameter, maybe more. Plenty enough
for an 1/8 hole...
The cheap and dirty way is to just put a "cow hitch" on the end of your
string, slip it past the broken "T" and cinch it down on the coated
cable. You might want to sand any sharp burrs off the broken "T" first.
Then tightly tape over the knot, cable and "T".
