My sister-in-law (SWMBO's sister) did some ancestry searches on their
grandfather. Apparently not much was shared about his activities when
the girl's were young.

She found a bunch of very old documents in which the top half of each
page was in German and the bottom half was the English translation.
The phrase The Führer came up quite often.

It turns out that Grandpa was an art dealer in Europe and was in
negotiations
with Hitler's staff to sell some pieces of art that may - it's not yet
clear - have been stolen from the Jews.

It was not the type of thing SWMBO's family was expecting to discover,
but it sure explained why they weren't told very much about their
grandfather.
