It's just about plausible that they've fitted a delay circuit to allow the
refrigerant to settle after delivery. The usual advice whenever a fridge is
moved is to leave for a period before powering it up.

But are you saying that because you have knowledge of such a feature
on a Hotpoint branded fridge. Personally I haven't encountered such a
delay in any make of fridge other than the short (less than a minute)
delay preventing the compressor restarting after it has stopped.

Often that's just done with a slow (thermal) self-reset circuit breaker
in the compressor connection block, which trips out for a minute or so
if the compressor tries to start up before the dynamic pressure in the
refrigerant circuit has dropped from last run, causing the compressor
to draw higher locked rotor current. (Fridge compressors are designed
with pretty much no spare starting torque, and can't start the compressor
if the still presurised from the previous run. This is in order to make
them run as efficiently as possible.)
