During the 3-1/2 years of World War 2 that started
with the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor in
December 1941 and ended with the Surrender of
Germany and Japan in 1945, the U.S. produced 22
aircraft carriers, 8 battleships, 48 cruisers,
349 destroyers, 420 destroyer escorts, 203
submarines, 34 million tons of merchant ships,
100,000 fighter aircraft, 98,000 bombers, 24,000
transport aircraft, 58,000 training aircraft,
93,000 tanks, 257,000 artillery pieces, 105,000
mortars, 3,000,000 machine guns, and 2,500,000
military trucks.

What a ****ing waste.
I suppose someone got rich with that, so it was worth it
to half a dozen.

Actually, it was worth it to at least about 150 million which was the US
population at the time; then toss in the additional hundreds of millions -
billions - in Europe and Asia, Canada, Australia and myriad Pacific islands.

They could have spent in on health and education,

Good thought. We could all have learned German and/or Japanese.

the downside being that people that think like you do would
not exist.

If it had not been spent, you might well not exist. And if you did it is
highly probable you wouldn't like your existence.

Think about it. Better, don't think, you're
not very good at it.

Pot, kettle, black.
