Ridiculous. that's an experienced machinist, not a beginner.
Possible yes, practical.. not at all.

It is not unreasonable on a good lathe if an experienced machinist is
coaching the beginner.


It also teaches the beginner that a) yes it is possible, and b)
you might as well learn it now...
