Assuming the neighbor is within his rights, why would Roger's wants
trump the neighbor's rights?

It seems that both of them like to fire off guns without regards
to the others' feelings on the matter. So what's the problem?

I'm grateful that I don't have neighbors like Roger's neighbor.

I'm equally grateful that I don't have neighbors like Roger.

I think they're equally at fault he both beating their chests and roaring inarticulately, like
apes in the jungle, each determined to back the other one down -- and neither one willing to
use the powers of speech and reason which are supposed to differentiate homo sapiens
from our hairier cousins.

Equally at fault? No.

When one is shooting 1000 feet away..and in another direction..its a
bit different than showing up 60 feet away and shooting..and doing it
early in the morning on top of it.

Big difference.
