I've occasionally seen adjustable supports for holding one end of a
board for edge planing; the other end is clamped to the face of the
bench with a shoulder vise. Is there a standard term for such a
support? More usefully, any pictures [urls] showing an idea I can
copy/modify? I have a tail vise that can be used to hold it in place.
