Knowing which switch is responsible for leaving the light on is of no value to begin with. If the

light can be turned on OR OFF from any of multiple switches, WHO CARES which switch turned
it on? It. Does. Not. Matter.

WRONG! Yes, it does matter. see other replies.

OK, fine, explain why it matters -- why you [think you] need to turn a light off using the same
switch that turned it on.

Make sure your explanation takes into account the fact that, if a light is controlled from multiple
locations, it can be turned either on OR off by ANY of the switches.
