Ok, just to make sure bases are covered, I've been told that in
Australia, 220 is -220-, either leg to ground is 220, not 110.

any transformer with a 220V input and a 110 v secondary (or 115 or 120
or anything reasonably close) will work - when you get to AU just pull
apart an old something or other and repurpose the transformer, or go to
a surplus store. Though things cost more there, surplus stores still exist
