There's a hilarious item in Wikipedia about the slave trade:

The slave trade is sometimes called the Maafa by African and
African-American scholars, meaning "great disaster" in Swahili.

Oddly it was the Irish catastrophe that ended the slave trade: no slave
ever worked as hard or cheap as starving Irishmen.
