Cosmic and Gama will get you. But exposure is the scale of danger.

as the patients. In movies they all dress in lead aprons and stand
behind leaded glass. Neutrons come right through.

Paraffin stops neutrons. So a mixture of cement, lead, and Paraffin is
the better shield.
