Hmm. I have been in the desert for 17 years. We do not have detectors
in an attic or garage. In none I've seen.

Any detectors purchased locally are standard run of the mill units.

Odd that detectors would be designed, built, shipped in geographical
locations - specifically. I know windows are made for various
regions.
