the surface was crumbing out in a few places. I suppose the wood was not well
stabilized. Will have to work more on this aspect of working with spalted
wood. Jeepers, the tools are certainly sharp.

Am pleased with the buffing tools - the harder the wood, the better the
results, I think.

Looks like the bottom still contains the pith. Cracks are prone to
start in the pith, including the pith of a knot. When it is
completely dry you can fill the crack or star with epoxy with a dab of
black dye in it and call it a feature.
