Default Glue for finished surfaces?

CA glue (AKA "Super Glue") works very well for gluing to finished wood
surfaces.

I prefer the thick variety for that task:

I routinely use the thick variety of CA glue to attached trim elements
(corbels, etc) to finished furniture ... along with the judicious use a
pin nailer, although on smaller pieces that is often not necessary.
