Nor for the weak. Those slab tables are, no doubt, heavy as heck.

I would encourage everyone to attempt/make a slab project. It's a challenge (large end grain areas!), fun and its hard to go wrong with a natural edged piece. *A note about large areas of end grain: Don't allow your sweat to drip on finish sanded end grain. The spot will raise and you have to resand. End grain sanding, to perfection, is much harder work than on faced surfaces!!! Moist sweaty hands will affect the wood, also, requiring resanding.
