the so-called "Wild West" was actually a pretty calm and safe place,because
many people carried guns,in normal daily life. People left their doors
unlocked,women were safe,there was low crime. People also were very POLITE
to each other. Few people mouthed off to a person who carried a gun.
The media of that day sensationalized the few robberies and shootouts that
mostly occurred in saloons and other bad places,just as today's media
sensationalizes many tragedies.
