AIUI, boric acid works, as well as food-grade DE. Don't know how long it
takes, though.

Doesn't heating to such high temperature damage electronics like TV etc?


As long as you're not running them, no. They're good to at least 250F for a
long period, which is far higher than is needed to kill cooties (110-120F?).
