SWMBO wants to downsize her PC to either a Laptop or a Tablet.

that compares Tablet v Laptop.

The important difference is rather obvious.

Tablets don't really work very well if you do much text input.

Corse the better ones can have a proper addon keyboard
but that doesn't really have the convenience of the built in
keyboard you get with a laptop, if you are happy with laptop
keyboards for text entry. I'm not for anything more than trivial stuff.

The fancy tablets like the ipad do stuff like browsing quite differently
to the way its done on laptops with a mouse. Which approach you
prefer isnt really something any comparison site can say, and you
really need to become fluent with the new tablet approach before
even you can really say for yourself too.

The other consideration is whether you are likely to use
the tablet for reading ebooks instead of physical books.
While you can read them on laptops, they arent really
as convenient for that when reading in bed or outside
in the sun etc.
