After revisiting and examinating the threaded area, the threaded section
spans about .380".

The measuring "errors" were due to due to an assumption that the thread
pitch was 32 TPI.
Not being aware that a metric thread was so close to 32, I jumped to the
conclusion that it was 32.

Counting the threads in 1/2" is sufficient to tell the two apart: 16 if
it's 32 tpi, 17 if it's 0.75mm
pitch.
