It's OT for this thread, but for your information BBC BASIC is currently
one of the most popular languages for teaching programming in UK schools.
For example it is recommended by the OCR examining board:

Any flavour of BASIC is a poor choice of language for teaching
programming IMHO.

"GOTO" ... need I say more?


Exists in C too, but in both languages you don't need to actually use it.


If the statement exists then the programmer can use it. In a language
used in teaching I would prefer the language would enforce good
practice by not even providing this feature.


Part of learning is that sometimes things are provided which you
shouldn't use.
