(For me, after 10 minutes in 15degreeF outdoors, it only FEELS
like I'm on an Antartica winter trek!)

I look for lots of insulation, I try blowing thru the thumbs to see
how much wind resistance there is, and even then I am only happy about
half the time with what I end up buying. If course, the best ones are
worn the most and when they wear out, the whole process starts over.
