I've found that most Christian churches, they don't have the Spirit of the
Lord. So, it's very possible that many atheists have attended one or more
"dead" churches. And they figure all the rest are just as unappealing. Or,
the atheist may have attended an evil church at early age. Perhaps been
shunned, disciplined harshly, etc. That can really leave mental scars.

It may be a "leap" of faith...but it is a kinder, gentler place to be.
