I knew a farmer who had the oil heat guy fill up his (off road) diesel farm
tractor while he was onsite. Made sense, to me.

The only "route delivery" systems that would offer reasonable prices
are for Propane. With diesel it's best to get a Transfer Tank in your
truck or on a trailer, and go get your diesel fuel yourself.
In the frozen northeast where oil heat is the norm, it's just a matter
of telling the delivery guy to top off the generator tank while he's
there. And of course if you setup the appropriate taps and whatnot,
you've got an additional 275-300 gal of backup fuel.
