Mine uses an LR44 and you HAVE TO use an LR44, not a substitute
battery that you can get a Radio Shack.
Mechanically they are not the same.

You can get the silver oxide cells occasionally from Big Lots, a card
of 5 goes for something like $2.50. Other than that, drugstores have
'em for something like $3-5, per cell (!).

And yes, they're mechanically the same.
