Mine is simple also. I look for what I need for a maximum of 5 minutes. Then
I go in the house and ask my wife "did I bring my (fill in name of item
here) in the house? I can't find it"

Then I go back to work and she brings it to me in just a minute or so as it
is usually right where anyone buy me can find it.

The method works not only for tools, but books, clothing, food items. It
does NOT work for money.
