The problem arises because US ethanol is derived from corn. *Elsewhere
it is derived from sugar cane. *It also cause increased emissions of
formaldehyde and ozone. Both cause smog and cancer.
Adding ethanol is another way of improving the "anti-knock"
properteries rather than using lead.
