Heh! It took the Roman Empire longer to fall than the United States has been
in existence. We have, by that measure, a couple of hundred years before the
end.

So, why are the Russians and Chinese being so aggressive in manufacturing
and trade?

The crowd holds its breath!

They may be Communist (actually more like an oligarchy) within, but to
the outside world, they play the capitalist game increasingly well.
Don't think of them as countries- think of them as giant companies that
happen to own a lot of land. Much like the giant plantation
conglomerates from the colonial robber baron era, or several of the OPEC
states.

The commies done you a favour. Whilst they existed, the middle
classes did OK.
Before communism, the blue collar workers had to eat ****.
While it existed, the rich were afraid of a workers revolution.
The moment they fell from favour/USSR disappeared, the rich started
robbing the workers again. You are back tothe 19th century.

So don't run them down, you owe them a lot. You may need to turn to a
similar system in America.
