Which exterior caulk before painting

Acrylic latex caulk works fine in the desert. I stretches and has some
give. Rather easy clean-up.
Urethane caulk will stick to a "ball of lard". It has to wear off to
clean up or you can chew if off. (used in buses, cars, trains...)
You can paint both types.
