It is a very long time since I bought a second hand car, but my
experience then was that the manufacturer's dealership gave excellent
service and a good guarantee. Of course, it may depend upon the
manufacturer.


I guess it depends on the age of the car. On cars older than 3 years
you're unlikely to get a good warranty. And you are guaranteed to pay
more in a dealership.

I haven't bought a car for quite a long time but, when I did, I was
shocked at the poor quality of the cars on all the forecourts.
