Funny but the TV news this morning says there is still no agreement on
the debt ceiling. So could you provide a cite for your statement?

Did you not hear what McConnell proposed to Obama? You have to
understand pretzel logic to get it. He wanted the congress to bass a
bill to basically agree not to raise the debt ceiling and Obama would
veto it. The effect of doing it this way would be to allow Obama to
raise the debt ceiling without it appearing that the republicans went
along with it. My citation is TV. I heard McConnell say this himself.

The bottom line is that now you are hearing the republicans saying the
debt ceiling will be raised. Obama is giving up nothing in spending cuts
and the republicans are still going to agree to raise the ceiling.
Now that Obama is saying he can't guarantee the troops or the seniors
will get their checks after 8/3 the pressure on the republicans to cave
in is so strong they have no choice but to go ahead and just raise the
debt ceiling. Like others have said, you don't spit in the wind and you
don't get between the grannies and their social security checks. Unless
you don't want to live.
