What does that have to do with what we were talking about, Dan? The point

ranging from atomic energy to space exploration; from preventing soil
erosion to energy efficiency.

My point is that most of the tech advances occur without any
government influence. And the government is does not have much to do
with development of the technology. But the government claims all
that you say. And NASA has lot of people involved in promoting the
idea that it is responsible for a lot of advances. That is the image
it promotes in order to keep getting government funding. If people
knew how little benefit the NASA space program generates, the space
program would have been canceled long ago. Remember the government
agencies have a vested interest in having you believe that the
government agencies help the economy. So you have read numerous
things that say the government does great things for the economy. And
some of them are true. But a lot of them stretch the truth.
