Manure. *Burglars make a point of avoiding buildings with alarm system, or
dogs, or armed residents. *Talk to some American cops or criminal defense
lawyers, ask them if crooks don't care about homeowners being armed--it
would be educational for you.

It just means they come armed with a gun themselves and are prepared
to use it. First if neccesary.
