GE chest freezer, 6 years old, something like 19 cubic feet,

The temperature runs to -15 to -10 degrees F when I have it on the
warmest setting, which is to say it is colder than what I want, namely 0
degrees.
I am afraid it may be wearing out its compressor.
What is probably wrong?
Thanks.

Fully defrost it, this is a very common problem, both with freezers
and refrigerators. *Plus it's cheaper to do than buying anything in
the way of parts..
Okay, I defrosted it a couple days ago. *The frost melted down to
probably only about a half gallon.
But it did not help. *It is running about -27 F now.
What did you mean in your other post about frost being near the temp sensor?- Hide quoted text -

Sounds like the thermostat is broken. It might be mechanical in which
case you can take it out and examine it.
