Well, the "T6" was the hint that that would happen: T2
is nice and bendy, though. Basically, the radius of
bend can be small for T2, but must be larger (maybe TOO
large to be useful) for T6. The "T" numbers are usually
read out as 'temper', though that might be just loose talk.

Surplus material is hard to characterize, as always. Ya might
want to make your corners with cut-and-weld or epoxy and
corner brackets. Or even gussets and rivets.
