You are still wrong.

Right.

Slavery was not the only reason the South
seceded. Even if you really believe it.

Dan

Yes it was, neiner neiner. d8-)

You guys can keep going back and forth as long as you want.

I think we're done. 8-)

I've made my point, for what it's worth. The only thing I would say is
what I would feel like if I was a southern slaveowner back then. If there
was no bad blood whatsoever between the southern states and the federal
government and things between the north and south were just fabulous,
slavery would still have been what caused secession and the war.

Yes. It was the causative issue. That's all I said from the beginning.

But if I were from the south and felt like the federals were just a bunch
of interfering pricks from the outside, jumping on me time and time again
over all kinds of issues, then the idea of them outlawing slavery would be
just the thing that pushed me over the edge. So if there was nothing but
the slavery issue I might have wanted to handle things differently than
completely cutting ties with the union. But with a whole host of other
disagreements then slavery would have surely have pushed me over the edge.
That's if I was a southerner. Which I'm not.
