Another option which avoids reinsertion is to turn off the ringers on
all the phones. Feed the output of your 800-dump box to several
remote ringers all over the estate. The phones still get the initial ring
signal and will display the CID.

Good point! I was going to rig remote ringers that skipped the first
ring, but the 800-dump box already has that delay. Now I need to see
if I have enough pairs. Old house had a bundle as big as your thumb
to every room. I think I have 4 pairs here. I'll have to look.

Then I'll turn off the telephone's ringer.

Also dawned on me to connect answering machine to the block/pass-thru
line of the 800-dump box.

Then 800 number callers don't ring at all, but they hear "ringing"
that never rolls to voice mail... just rings and rings and .... ;-)
