I wasn't soliciting on this one Mike. I am just following the
directions: (1) mount the DP base to the baseboard, and (2)assembling
the DP. I'll save further creativity for another time.

I went out and bought most everything I'll need today--except I
couldn't find any 1/2" threaded inserts (or 1/2" T-nuts). 3/8" is the
largest size I found (so I don't have any). I'm going to check the
local hardware, or something...

3/8" would be stout enough. You really don't need to look real hard for
1/2".
