Harry, get a grip or SHUT UP!

The drivel on that *Web site is NOT put out by the U.S. govt, but by a
private nut-case outfit. Even you could see that if you tried.

For the skinny on Ret. Gen Boykin, go to:

http://www.commondreams.org/views04/0520-03.htm

He is one of the extreme, extreme Christian Right nutcases infecting
the military. *How he ever got his stars, hard to understand!
But he's one of a not-so-secretive Christian Right cabal that
persecutes soldiers who don't share their view.

For more info on this REALLY REALLY scary situation in the U.S.
military, go to:

Military Religious Freedom Foundation *at mrff.com

You will be shocked, horrified, and -- one hopes -- moved to join the
fight.

Ok, I looked at your links. *I can see this Boykin is a nut, working
for nuts which is my point.
What exactly are your views about this MRFF organisation?

My views should be pretty obvious, as I recommended people go to their
Web site MRFF.org and support them.

The founder, Mikey Weinstein, an Air Force graduate (as are his
children), started MRFF in dismay at the fanatic Christian religious
Right (which aren't very "Christian"; they act more like a Christian
version of Al Quaida!!).

He gets hundreds of emails from-- surprise! mostly CHRISTIAN serving
military, who are being persecuted by their fanatic superiors.
Far from being only Jews, Muslims, Agnostics, or whatever, these
soldiers trying only to serve their country are being abused,
threatened, intimidated by their fanatic superiors.

I don't understand how the US military lets this continue! Unless
they share the fanatics' views.

As to the Air Force Academy, the religious persecution there is an
old, old story. Mikey and his supporters have been fighting for years
to change the culture there, such that a young man or woman seeking to
serve their country are not discriminated against and their career
threaened.

As an aside I saw a documentary on Al Jazeera that portrayed thousands
of American soldiers in a stadium of some sort. (missed the opening
few minutes) It was some kind of religious thing. They were all
moaning and waving their arms in the air whilst some kind of religious
nut ranted on. They had brought their weapons to be "blessed".
Mad.

Your anecdote only bears out my theme: There ARE soldiers who are
religious fanatics, but:

1. I would take anything on Al Jazera cum grano salis. Check out
stuff like that on Snopes.

2. Were those soldiers there of their own will, or -- as I AM TRYING
TO CONVEY -- were they intimidated into participating.

Religion is the root of most evil.

Err...We can debate till the cows come home why some religious people
are kind and generous, and others are greedy, vicious, fanatic. I
suspect it has more to do with their home upbringing.
