Don't you agree you need more HEAT (energy) to maintain the same TEMPERATURE in winter than in summer?

Of course. That's why your fuel consumption generally increases in
colder weather.

Heat normally increases the temperature, disregarding losses due to,
well, outside temperature, insulation being a factor.
