Default how to bend a piece of metal?

Start by annealing it. Wipe it with a bit of liquid soap, stick it on
the cooker (gas or electric) and toast it until the soap blackens.
Then leave to cool (it's not fussy).

After that, it should bend by hand force around a suitable broomhandle
or such.

If you have to hit it, use a rubber mallet (or piece of firewood), not
a steel hammer.
