All you need to strip wallpaper effectively is water and a small amount of
normal washing up liquid, if you have any to hand.

Water alone is usually all that is required except that people are
frightened to 'put too much' on and I think they fear water getting into
electrics etc.
You start at the top of the wall to be stripped and *thouroughly* wet as
much as you can reach, then do all the bottom part of the wall the same.

Leave for ten minutes and exactly the same procedure again, *then* start
stripping - all too often people damp a small patch about a foot across
then furiously start hacking away with a scraper and then give up because
'it's too hard' - all that is required is to soften the paste on the back
of the paper and this is why 2 or more soakings are required - the first
one doesn't get through to the back of the paper where the paste is, but
the second and sometimes if it's a thick paper, a third soaking will.

in - rather than run off. Scoring the outer face also helps.
