polluted the Hudson River, and has lined the pockets of enough

Of course not.

At the time, what GE dumped into the river was not regarded as "pollution."
(I could be wrong, but I think I recall correctly). Now various whiny types,
including the government, wants GE to pay for something not illegal when
they did it, just like the fine WalMart is currently fighting (and the
source of an earlier extended thread).
