Default A/C Compressor Replacement?

"ATP" fired this volley in

Considering replacing the seized compressor and receiver/dryer on a 95
Camaro. Has anybody done a similar job, is it worthwhile trying a
junkyard compressor? Even rockauto.com wants $200 for a new
compressor.

I do it all the time. A used compressor likely will have shaft seal
leaks -- especially considering that the longer it sits not spinning, the
more the seals leak.

Buy a re-built. And just suck up on the cost if that's the cost. You
don't want to throw away all that work.
