The parts that wear or break are usually highly stressed, heat-
treated, and may need custom tooling like spline cutters. And you need
to find a good one to copy.


Yes, so I would try to find something easy to make, would buy an
original and copy. This is my plan. If it does not work out, too
bad. The key is to be low cost to make in terms of my time.
